About Our Founder

Jenevieve Woon is a Singaporean designer with formal education in Industrial Design from Central Saint Martins and Rhode Island School of Design. She was a Fashion Designer in New York for several years before returning home to Singapore and launching her eponymous design studio in 2021.

Jenevieve’s work examines the confluence between art and function and is driven by a deep love for exploring materials. Her explorations in ceramics are a cathartic pursuit of finding joy and new possibilities within clay.

Our Process

Grounded in Hand Making.

We believe that there is a sensitivity toward materials that can only be gained by first working with them by hand.

We choose to start all our forms by hand-building them out of clay. At this stage of the design process, we invest time and attention into figuring out the visual language and composition of each piece through touch.

Using technology to honour traditional techniques.

To make the best moulds for our objects, we combine digital and traditional mould making techniques that allow us to preserve details of the original hand-made form.

Slip casting is a centuries-old ceramic technique of pouring slip (liquid clay) into a porous plaster mould. The mould draws out moisture from the slip to create a ceramic form. Though commonly associated with mass production, we love slip casting because it lends itself best to making asymmetrical forms off the wheel, allowing us to create the organic, wavy forms of our core Crema Collection.

We take great pride and care in crafting our moulds hope we can explore the intersection between slip casting and hand-making together. Every piece is crafted in small batches in our Singapore studio to ensure you get special pieces of the best quality.

We could talk about process forever if you let us. Drop us a message if you’d like to continue chatting or visit us on our social media pages to see more snippets of our process.

GIVING BACK.

A note from Jenevieve:

“I started this brand as a way to make someone’s day a little brighter. As a designer, creating something that brings joy to a loved one is my love language.

Turning this into a business has meant thinking a lot more about sales, growth and making a profit. In today’s capitalist economy that is constantly measuring us by our dollars and cents, I want to remember that there are many alternative measures of success. How well is my team’s well-being after a day at work? How well are we serving our community? How many customers have we convinced to buy less but buy better?

As a company, consistently giving a portion of our proceeds back to our community is an active reminder for us to check if we’re still on track with our mission and if our hearts are in the right place.

As a consumer, I hope you can look at our pieces and be reminded of the larger mission we have to leave this world a better place than we found it. I hope our work offers you rest if you need it, that it can recharge and inspire you to continue the good work that never ends.

Love,

Jenevieve”

It starts at Home.

There are countless global issues for us to work on and causes to contribute to. However, for our proceeds to generate sustainable growth and change, we focus on building relationships and making long-term donations to local non-profit organisations.

Habitat for Humanity, Singapore.

While we believe in making meaningful and intentional objects for the home, we acknowledge that a safe home is not a luxury everyone has access to.

We contribute 3% of all website sale proceeds to our partners at Habitat for Humanity, Singapore on a bimonthly basis. The Habitat team works tirelessly to build and improve homes for low-income families in Singapore and the region. We’re grateful to be able to partner with Habitat to create a safe home environment for more families.

You can find receipts for all our contributions here.
